Let me tell you a story...
When myself and Mr Ovis Yarns went to Perth Festival of Yarn last year we had an amazing time. Everyone was so friendly and welcoming and the yarn community in Scotland was just mind blowing in the best possible way.
It both inspired and saddened me... It saddened me because Liverpool is an amazing and vibrant city and one I am super proud to be from. But we have very little in the way of a yarn "community". There are great knit and natter groups that meet week in and out, but no local yarn store ad no advanced workshops. I felt sad that for (mainly) economic reasons, Liverpool city centre missing an Independent yarn ethos.
I've spent the past 6 months working on a variety of ideas and concepts... and then an opportunity arose. The team at Red Brick Vintage are opening an new marketplace, for small business and creatives. A fantastic opportunity to take a permanent unit in a vibrant and fresh market in the Baltic triangle of Liverpool... A place with the vibe and feel of Camden Market down in London. It is surrounded by tasty cafes and places to relax...
and on the 21st April - I will be opening an Independent Yarn store!
The unit is only small, but i am extremely lucky to be the daughter of a very talented commercial shopfitter with decades of experience - so over the next few weeks we will be pulling everything together and creating a small haven for those in Liverpool who love great yarn and crafts.
There will be plenty of Ovis Yarns, LazyKate textiles, weaving fibres and some commercial brands as well - and if there is anything or anyone you would love to see stocked, just pop me an e-mail or message on social media! I welcome all suggestions, so that I am able to stock what is needed.
I'm even insisting there needs to be some seating and a kettle, so you can stop by for a chat! So keep and eye on my social media and come along on the 21st April for a peek!
