So there is some big news here at Ovis Yarns - on the 20th December, the unit at St Johns Market will close for Christmas and not re-open.
This has not been an easy decision to come to, and unlike opening the first unit at Red Brick, there has been a lot of planning and analysis going on. There are several reasons that I've come to this decision, but the biggest one is time. Time the shop takes from my family and from the dyeing side of the business.
When I first started Ovis Yarns back in 2015, it was my big dream, my 5 year plan, to own a physical space to sell my yarns. I achieved that in my 3rd year. I will always be immensely proud of this. But there are often big differences between dreams and reality. The dream was to one day create a welcoming space, filled with colour, creativity, friendly and open to all. I like to think that at points over the past 18 months I have achieved this. But the reality was a place that took my weekends away from my young son, family, and dyeing wool, which is what I love most.
I've learnt so much about myself over the past 18 months, and I've made wonderful friends I would never have met otherwise. There have been ups and downs, but I'm choosing to focus on the ups as I move forward into 2020.
So on wards to 2020! I have plans, lots of them, which I will blog about and announce later this week - and in the meantime there is an automatic 10% off on-line, to celebrate the fresh start 2020 promises to bring.
