Introduction to yarn dyeing - Explore British wool - 9th November - 1pm - 4pm
Join me, Becky of Ovis Yarns and explore the world of hand dyed yarn. This special edition of my Introductory workshop is especially for UK Wool Week 2019.
We will explore 10 British sheep breeds - all sourced, processed and spun in the UK:
Bluefaced Leicester, Corredale, Dorset Horn, Kent Romney, Polwarth, Teeswater, Whitefaced woodland, Wenselydale, Border Leicester, and Jacob.
We will explore how each base takes the dye differently and the different properties of each. The workshop will include 20g minis of each breed, and a pattern for a knitted / crochet cowl (craft of your choice) - so 200g of Yarn in total.
I will explain how I prep yarn for dyeing, and then show you various dyeing techniques on the tester mini skeins. You will then be able to create a truly unique collection of British yarns for you to take home and create something wonderful with.
If you would like to purchase additional mini skeins, please let me know in advance so I can prep the skeins and invoice you. Charge of £3 per mini
All materials will be provided. Please wear clothes that can get messy.
This workshop is strictly limited to just 4 participants, and is suitable for ages 8 and up.
